Our team works closely with local NHS services and hospital eye departments to support the early diagnosis, ongoing management, and treatment of specific eye conditions.

Our Specialist Services

Glaucoma Monitoring and Management

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that can cause damage to the optic nerve, often with no early symptoms. At PLM, we use advanced diagnostic tools to detect and monitor glaucoma, working in partnership with local hospitals where necessary. Regular monitoring helps preserve vision and reduce the risk of long-term damage.

Hospital Contact Lens Services

Certain eye conditions require specially designed contact lenses for medical reasons – often referred to as therapeutic or hospital contact lenses. Our optometrists, including David, Fiona and Christine, are trained and experienced in fitting these complex lenses as part of their work with Fife Hospital Eye Service. These lenses can provide improved vision and comfort for patients with conditions such as keratoconus, severe dry eye, or post-surgical corneal changes.

Independent Prescribing

Several of our optometrists are qualified as Independent Prescribers, which means they can assess and treat certain eye conditions without the need for a GP referral. This includes prescribing medications to manage infections, inflammation, and other minor eye issues. This makes it quicker and more convenient to access the care you need when symptoms arise.
